Islam: What is Islam? An Evaluation of Islam, Evil Beliefs, Culture and Traditions

Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion, and the world's second largest, based on the teachings of Muhammad (or often Mohammed and other variants), a seventh century Arab who, according to Muslim belief, was an agent of "divine" action.

Muhammed claimed to have received revelations from Allah via the "archangel" Gabriel, which were written in the Qur'an (Koran) - thus forming the core teachings of Islam. The word "Islam" means "submission" (to Allah) in Arabic. Islam as originally designed in the Qur'an presents itself as an Abrahamic faith and has Moses in it as well as Jesus as a prophet in Islam, but not as God's son.

A follower of Islam is called a "Muslim" or "Moslem", a term which means "one who submits (to Allah)". The older terms "Mohammedan", "Muhammedan" or "mohammedanism" ("follower of Muhammad"), are generally considered as offensive to Muslims and has mostly fallen out of use.

Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam, which are basic concepts and obligatory acts of worship, and following Islamic law, which touches on virtually every aspect of life and society, providing guidance on multifarious topics from banking and welfare, to warfare and the environment.

The religion of Islam teaches that the Qur'an (c. 610 – 632 AD) is the final authority and the last revelation of Allah. The Bible, however, was completed in the first century with the Book of Revelation. Muslims maintain that previous messages and revelations have been partially changed or corrupted over time, but consider the Qur'an to be both the unaltered and the final revelation of God.

However, Islam's claim that the Bible somehow has been corrupted over time but their own book remained unchanged is indeed quite illogical and false, but perhaps not surprising. They must say something to justify themselves and their "holy" book's stark departure from God's true revelation, the Bible, in order to explain away the blatant contradictions between the Holy Bible and the Qur'an, mustn't they?

The true religion cannot have blatant illogic at the heart of its teaching. Islam has blatant illogic at its heart. The illogic is this: Islam considers Jesus to be a prophet, but denies that He was God. It says that God had no Son and repudiates the Trinity. It claims the Bible is not true and that God "changed" His mind about the Bible when He some 600 years later contradicted Himself with the new teachings of the Qur'an—but God change not (Malachi 3:6). The Bible warns against anyone adding to or subtracting from God's Word (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Galatians 1:6-12; Revelation 22:18). The Qur'an, as a claimed addition to God's Word, directly disobeys God's command.

Jesus also said and indicated that He was God many times (e.g., John 8:58). On this point one can also consult: Where does the Bible teach that Jesus is God? If He was not God (as Islam says), then He was a false prophet for claiming to be God when He was not. According to Muslims, he would logically – and we say this for the sake of argument for those who, God forbid, might accept Islam as true – have to be considered a blasphemer and a false prophet. He could not logically be considered a prophet. That proves that Islam is false and that it has an official teaching which is blatantly false and illogical. It proves it without even getting into the other false teachings of Islam which demonstrate that it's a false religion which was inspired by the enemy of mankind to lead souls astray.

What is Islam?

For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both a religion and a way of life. Muslims claim they follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority say they have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith.

The name of the religion is Islam, which comes from an Arabic root word meaning "peace" and "submission." Islam teaches that one can only find peace in one's life by submitting to "Almighty Allah" in heart, soul and deed. The same Arabic root word gives "Salaam alaykum," ("Peace be with you"), the universal Muslim greeting.

A person who believes in and consciously follows Islam is called a Muslim, also from the same root word. So, the religion is called "Islam," and a person who believes in and follows it is a "Muslim."

The majority of Muslims are Sunni, being 75–90% of all Muslims. The second largest sect, Shia, makes up 10–20%. The most populous Muslim-majority country is Indonesia home to 12.7% of the world's Muslims followed by Pakistan (11.0%), Bangladesh (9.2%), and Egypt (4.9%). Sizable minorities are also found in India, Russia, and parts of Europe. With about 1.57 to 1.65 billion followers or 22 to 24% of earth's population, Islam is the second-largest and one of the fastest-growing religions in the world.

Islam, the Fastest Growing Religion in the World?

One of the big arguments for Islam is its rapid spread. Muslims argue that because their religion grew so quickly over the globe, it must have been guided by Allah.

However, many religions and philosophies have grown quickly over the world in the past. Early on, Christianity spread from Norway and Russia in the north to North Africa and Ethiopia in the south and from Spain in the west to India in the east. Then, when the New World was discovered, the continents of North and South America quickly became populated by Christians.

Communism spread from Russia to China, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, Central Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America. All this happened within 80 years! If the rate of spread of a religion or philosophy is any indicator of the truth of a religion, then Islam will have to take 3rd place!

Next, it is clear that Islam was spread through the use of force. The promise of plunder, riches, and power is what initially attracted the Arab tribes to unite under Muhammad. In fact, when Muhammad died, many of the Arabs fell away from Islam, and Caliph Abu Bakr had to launch a war against them in order to keep them Muslims! Throughout the centuries, Islam gave an ultimatum to every conquered people: convert or die! One fundamentalist Muslim responded to Dr. Robert Morey, a critic of Islam, in this way:

"Mr. Morey also claims that Muhammad forced people to give up their idols and accept Islam. This statement is not true. What Muhammad did was give a choice to the pagans and idol worshippers to either give up their idols or die. No force was used, just a choice. If you believe your idols, then are you willing to die for them is the question that was faced. I put this question to Mr. Morey and his readers: Are you willing to die for your belief in Jesus Christ?" -Waliyyuddin Shareef, In Response to Robert Morey's Islamic Invasion, p.35.

The next thing that they did was to punish anyone who wanted to convert from Islam with death (Sura 4:88-89). So, the masses of Muslims all over the world were and still are kept captive from even thinking about changing religions by the barbaric Islamic fundamentalist hordes of their own nations. This has created nominal Muslims (i.e. Muslim in-name-only) on a grand scale!

The reason for the rapid growth of Islam today is the high birth rate of Islamic families. When most Islamic families around the world are impoverished and their men are allowed to have up to four wives and they rarely use contraception or abort their babies (contrary to most so-called "Christians" who most of them mortally sinfully use some form or another of artificial birth control, contraception or NFP), the high rate of growth is understandable. Also because these families are poor and sometimes cannot afford all of their children, they sometimes send them away to Europe where the welfare states take care of them. In terms of converts, Islam is dying. One Muslim "religious" leader even admitted that Islam was dying in Africa because people were converting to "Christianity" at a higher rate than Muslims could be born! Unfortunately, most Muslims in other countries do not have such an opportunity. In countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, missionaries who attempt to convert people from Islam are executed, and Muslims are afraid of leaving Islam because the penalty is death. Muslims in Britain and Europe are afraid of leaving Islam because their families might do an 'honor killing' (i.e. murder for leaving Islam). Tragically, it happens frequently.

An Evaluation of Islam

Muhammad, a False Prophet?

Was Muhammad a false prophet? Christians claim Muhammad was a false prophet, while Muslims of course deny that Muhammad was a false prophet. To see whether or not Muhammad was a false prophet, let's start with the passage in the Bible in which God, according to Muslims, foretells Moses about Muhammad:

"I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him." (Deuteronomy 18:18-19)

Is Muhammad the Prophet that God promised in this passage? The verses that immediate follow the above verses read:

"But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?' - when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him." (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)

A prophet of God is the mouthpiece of God, who is perfect and never wrong. Therefore, when someone claims to be speaking as instructed by God and then makes a false statement, that person "has spoken presumptuously" and is not God's prophet.

Did Muhammad make any such false statement? When Muhammad conquered the pagan Mecca, it worshipped 360 idols. The four most important among them were the moon god, "Sin", also known as "Hubal", also known as "Allah", and his three daughters: Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Al-Manat.

Muhammad's attempt to impose monotheism by keeping just Allah and ridding the other 359 Meccan idols faced resistance from Meccans who held Allah's three daughters very dear.

Eager to be accepted as a prophet in his native Mecca, Muhammad initially conceded that Allah approved of Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Al-Manat. But unable to reconcile three extra goddesses with his declared monotheism, Muhammad later reversed himself, confessing, "I have fabricated things against Allah and have imputed to him words which he has not spoken." (Al Tabari, The History of Al-Tabari, vol. 6, p.111) and said he had mistaken the words of "Satan" (Ibn Ishaq, Sirat Rasul Allah, pp.165-166) as Allah's.

Given that Allah's true identity is Satan, the words of Allah and Satan would not be hard to confuse. Had Muhammad claimed to be a prophet of the God of the Bible, however, someone who hears from Satan, mistakes Satan's words as God's and fabricates "things against" God is a false prophet whom God said above, "shall die".

Muhammad, a Pedophile?

As mentioned in this article, Muhammad had a convenient "revelation" that told him to marry Abu Bakr's daughter, 'Aisha. What makes it worse is the fact that she was only 6 years old when she wed Muhammad, and Muhammad consummated that marriage when 'Aisha was only 9! This was recorded in many places in the Hadith (emphasis mine):

"Narrated 'Ursa: The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)." -excerpt from Sahih Bukhari 7.88

This has been confirmed in other Hadiths (Sahih Bukhari 5.234, 5.236, 7.64-65, Sunan Abu Da'ud 41.4915-4917)! In addition, Muhammad also used to kiss and suck on Aisha's tongue (Abu Dawud 13:2380), and fondle her while bathing (Sahih Bukhari 1:6:298). Aisha also "used to wash the semen off the clothes of the Prophet" (Hadith of Bukhari 1:4:233). One may ask the question, How did the semen get on Muhammad's clothes, and why did Aisha wash it off? Muhammad said (emphasis mine):

"Narrated jabir bin 'abdullah: When I got married, Allah's apostle said to me, 'what type of lady have you married?' I replied, 'I have married a matron.' he said, 'why, don't you have a liking for the virgins and for fondling them?' Jabir also said: Allah's apostle said, 'why didn't you marry a young girl so that you might play with her and she with you?'" -Sahih Bukhari 7:62:17

Hence, Muhammad's comments indicate that his reason for marrying Aisha while a young virgin is so that he could fondle and sexually play with her!

"Narrated 'Aisha: 'The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot while we were Junub. During the menses, he used to order me to put on an Izar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me.'" -Sahih Bukhari 1:6:298

"Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: 'The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) used to kiss her and suck her tongue when he was fasting.'" -Abu Dawud 13:2380

"Narrated 'Aisha: 'I used to wash the traces of Janaba (semen) from the clothes of the Prophet and he used to go for prayers while traces of water were still on it (water spots were still visible).'" (Hadith of Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 229)

"Narrated Sulaiman bin Yasar: I asked 'Aisha about the clothes soiled with semen. She replied, 'I used to wash it off the clothes of Allah's Apostle and he would go for the prayer while water spots were still visible. '" (Hadith of Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 231)

"Narrated 'Amr bin Maimun: I heard Sulaiman bin Yasar talking about the clothes soiled with semen. He said that 'Aisha had said, 'I used to wash it off the clothes of Allah's Apostle and he would go for the prayers while water spots were still visible on them.'" (Hadith of Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 232)

"Narrated 'Aisha: 'I used to wash the semen off the clothes of the Prophet and even then I used to notice one or more spots on them.'" (Hadith of Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 233)

These hadiths are truly disturbing.

In addition, according to Muslim scholars, Muhammad placed his penis between the thighs of Aisha and he massaged it until he ejaculated since he could not have sexual intercourse with her until she was nine. Note that this is supposed to be when Aisha was between 6 and 8:

Praise be to Allah and peace be upon the one after whom there is no [further] prophet.

After the permanent committee for the scientific research and fatwahs (religious decrees) reviewed the question presented to the grand Mufti Abu Abdullah Muhammad Al-Shemary, the question forwarded to the committee by the grand scholar of the committee with reference number 1809 issued on 3/8/1421 (Islamic calendar). The inquirer asked the following:

It has become wide spread these days, and especially during weddings, the habit of mufa'khathat of the children (mufa'khathat literally translated means "placing between the thighs" which means placing the male member between the thighs of a child). What is the opinion of scholars knowing full well that the prophet, the peace and prayer of Allah be upon him, also practiced the "thighing" of Aisha - the mother of believers - may Allah be please with her.

After the committee studied the issue, they gave the following reply:

It has not been the practice of the Muslims throughout the centuries to resort to this unlawful practice that has come to our countries from pornographic movies that the kufar (infidels) and enemies of Islam send. As for the prophet, peace and prayer of Allah be upon him, thighing his fiancée Aisha. She was six years of age and he could not have intercourse with her due to her small age. That is why [the prophet] peace and prayer of Allah be upon him placed his [male] member between her thighs and massaged it softly, as the apostle of Allah had control of his [male] member not like other believers.

The Koran says that Muhammad is to be the highest "moral" example for all Muslims (Sura 33:21). However, Muhammad was a pervert and a pedophile, and almost nothing could put him further away from being the "highest moral example" than this!

Pedophilia in the Qur'an

According to Surah 2:228, if a Muslim man wants to divorce his wife, he should wait until she has gone through three monthly cycles (i.e. three periods). But the question later arose: What are men who want a divorce supposed to do when their wives, for whatever reason, do not have monthly cycles? The Qur'an answers this question in Surah 65:4, where it gives divorce rules for (1) women who do not have monthly cycles because they are too old, (2) girls who do not have monthly cycles because they are too young, and (3) women and girls who do not have monthly cycles because they are pregnant. The verse declares that, if Muslim men want to divorce girls who haven't yet reached puberty, they must wait three months (after having sex with them).

Here are two translations of Surah 65:4:

Qur'an 65:4 (Arberry)--As for your women who have despaired of further menstruating, if you are in doubt, their period shall be three months; and [also for] those who have not menstruated as yet. And those who are with child, their term is when they bring forth their burden. Whoso fears God, God will appoint for him, of His command, easiness.

Qur'an 65:4 (Rodwell)--As to such of your wives as have no hope of the recurrence of their times, if ye have doubts in regard to them, then reckon three months, and let the same be the term of those who have not yet had them. And as to those who are with child, their period shall be until they are delivered of their burden. God will make His command easy to him who feareth Him.

Here are three classic Muslim commentaries on 65:4:

Tafsir Ibn Kathir (on Qur'an 65:4)—Allah the Exalted clarifies the waiting period of the woman in menopause. And that is the one whose menstruation has stopped due to her older age. Her `Iddah is three months instead of the three monthly cycles for those who menstruate, which is based upon the Ayah in (Surat) Al-Baqarah. [see 2:228] The same for the young, who have not reached the years of menstruation. Their `Iddah is three months like those in menopause.

Tafsir al-Jalalayn (on Qur'an 65:4)—And [as for] those of your women who (read allà'ï or allà'i in both instances) no longer expect to menstruate, if you have any doubts, about their waiting period, their prescribed [waiting] period shall be three months, and [also for] those who have not yet menstruated, because of their young age, their period shall [also] be three months.

Tafsir Ibn Abbas (on Qur'an 65:4)—(And for such of your women as despair of menstruation) because of old age, (if ye doubt) about their waiting period, (their period (of waiting) shall be three months) upon which another man asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What about the waiting period of those who do not have menstruation because they are too young?" (along with those who have it not) because of young age, their waiting period is three months.

For Muslims who want to say that this verse could refer to divorcing prepubescent girls whose husbands haven't had sex with them, the Qur'an refutes this claim. Surah 33:49 says that there is no waiting period if a man has not had sex with his bride.

Qur'an 33:49--O ye who believe! When ye marry believing women, and then divorce them before ye have touched them, no period of 'Iddat have ye to count in respect of them: so give them a present. And set them free in a handsome manner.

Hence, the Qur'an says that there is no waiting period if a man hasn't had sex with his bride, and the Qur'an prescribes a waiting period for men who want to divorce their prepubescent child-brides. This presupposes that the men have had sex with them, which means that the Qur'an allows sex with prepubescent girls. This shouldn't be surprising, since Muhammad himself married a six year old girl and had sex with her at the age of nine. Muhammad is also said to have placed his penis between the thighs of Aisha, his child bride, and he massaged it until he ejaculated since he could not have sexual intercourse with her until she was nine. So what does this mean? It means that the Islamic religion promotes pedophilia!

Islamic Culture and Tradition

Thanks to Muhammad's and the Qur'ans explicit approval of pedophilia, sex with children became deeply ingrained in the Islamic culture and tradition. For many centuries, Muslim armies would purge Christian and Hindu peasant villages of their menfolk and send the women and children to harems and the thriving child sex slave markets deep in the Islamic world.

The great perversions and scandals in the Islamic world are indeed extraordinary thanks to the life of Muhammad. For example, Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, a prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia's highest religious council, issued a fatwa asserting that there is no minimum age for marriage, and that girls can be married "even if they are in the cradle."

Appearing in Saudi papers on July 13, 2011, the fatwa complains that "Uninformed interference with Sharia rulings by the press and journalists is on the increase, posing dire consequences to society, including their interference with the question of marriage to small girls who have not reached maturity, and their demand that a minimum age be set for girls to marry."

Fawzan insists that nowhere does Sharia set an age limit for marrying girls: like countless Muslim scholars before him, he relies on Koran 65:4, which discusses marriage to females who have not yet begun menstruating (i.e., are prepubescent) and the fact that Muhammad, Islam's role model, married Aisha when she was 6-years-old, "consummating" the marriage when she was 9.

The point of the Saudi fatwa, however, is not that girls as young as 9 can have sex, based on Muhammad's example, but rather that there is no age limit whatsoever; the only question open to consideration is whether the girl is physically capable of handling her husband/rapist. Fawzan documents this point by quoting Ibn Batal's authoritative exegesis of Sahih Bukhari:

The ulema [Islam's interpreters] have agreed that it is permissible for fathers to marry off their small daughters, even if they are in the cradle. But it is not permissible for their husbands to have sex with them unless they are capable of being placed beneath and bearing the weight of the men. And their capability in this regard varies based on their nature and capacity. Aisha was 6 when she married the prophet, but he had sex with her when she was 9 [i.e., when she was deemed capable].

Fawzan concludes his fatwa with a warning: "It behooves those who call for setting a minimum age for marriage to fear Allah and not contradict his Sharia, or try to legislate things Allah did not permit. For laws are Allah's province; and legislation is his excusive right, to be shared by none other. And among these are the rules governing marriage."

Fawzan, of course, is not the first to insist on the legitimacy of pedophilia in Islam. Even the former grand mufti of Saudi Arabia supported "child-marriage," since "the Koran and Sunna document it."

Nor is this just some theoretic, theological point; the lives of many young girls are being destroyed because of these rulings. For instance, a 13-year-old girl died while her much older husband was raping her (it was revealed that, due to her reluctance, he was tying her up); in another case, a 10-year-old girl made headlines by hiding out from her 80-year-old "husband."

Some clerics even allow a process known as "thighing" (also known as child molestation in the West) on young girls whom husbands may not have sex with yet. According to a recent fatwa (number 23672), an imam answers this question: "My parents married me to a young girl who hasn't yet reached puberty. How can I enjoy her sexually?" by telling the pervert that he may "hug her, kiss her, and ejaculate between her legs."

The Ayatollah Khomeini, who married a 12-year-old girl, even gave his consent to using infants for sexual pleasure (although warning against full penetration until the baby is a few years older).

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, The Supreme Leader of Iran, the Shia Grand Ayatollah, 1979-89 said in his official statements:

"A man can quench his sexual lusts with a child as young as a baby. However, he should not penetrate. Sodomizing the baby is halal (allowed by sharia). If the man penetrates and damages the child, then he should be responsible for her subsistence all her life. This girl, however, does not count as one of his four permanent wives. The man will not be eligible to marry the girl's sister. It is better for a girl to marry when her menstruation starts, and at her husband's house rather than her father's home. Any father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in heaven." (Khomeini, "Tahrirolvasyleh" fourth volume, Darol Elm, Gom, Iran, 1990)

He also said:

"It is not illegal for an adult male to 'thigh' or enjoy a young girl who is still in the age of weaning; meaning to place his penis between her thighs, and to kiss her." (Ayatu Allah Al Khumaini's "Tahrir Al wasila" p. 241, issue number 12)

Muslims has developed a culture which denies Jesus Christ, the Trinity and the Christian Faith on a massive scale, and keeps hundreds of millions in the darkness of the Devil—and so it's not strange at all that the Islamic faith is rotten to the core. Of all the evil things in the world that one can think of, Islamic culture probably ranks in the top five of the most evil!

What about Tahrif?

Tahrif is a claim that Muslims often make against the Bible. Tahrif, which means "corruption", is the charge that the Bible contains corrupted passages.

Tahrif was first leveled against the Scripture in the 11th century by a Muslim named Ibn Khazem. According to Ibn Khazem's tahrif, when passages in the Qur'an contradict passages in the Bible, it is the Bible passages that have been corrupted, apparently by the Jews and the Christians.

There are at least two problems with tahrif.

Firstly, by the time Ibn Khazem claimed tahrif against the Bible, the Bible had been around for a thousand years, and hundreds of manuscript copies of the Bible from across the Middle East, Europe and North Africa attested to its accuracy.

Any claim of textual corruption needs to present evidence of the supposedly corrupted text before their supposed corruption. Neither Ibn Khazem nor anyone since him has produced any such evidence of tahrif.

Secondly, tahrif of the Bible contradicts Muhammad and his Qur'an, which attest to the accuracy of the Bible. For example, Muhammad declared in the Qur'an:

"No change is there in the Words of [God]. That is what is the great attainment." - Qur'an 10:64

"So if you are in doubt about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters." - Qur'an 10:94

Most Muslims who claim tahrif fall silent when confronted with the above. The few who try to counter typically rely the following passage from the Qur'an as their proof text for tahrif:

"And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture." - Qur'an 3:78

But the passage claims oral alteration of the Scripture - "with their tongues" - and not alteration of the Scripture itself.

This was made clear by Muhammad's own cousin, Abdullah ibn Abbas, who explained tahrif as the charge of misinterpretation, not the alteration, of God's word:

"The word Tahrif signifies to change a thing from its original nature; and that there is no man who could corrupt a single word of what proceeded from God, so that the Jews and Christians could corrupt only by misrepresenting the meaning of the words of God." - Al-Bukhari p.1127, line 7

So what really happened?

Muhammad was illiterate, had a vague and often incorrect knowledge of the Bible, and said many things that were incorrect and contradictory to the Bible, but thought that he was being consistent with it.

For three centuries after Muhammad, Muslims who actually read and studied the Bible saw how glaringly the Qur'an contradicted the Bible, but were caught between a rock and a hard place. They obviously could not say that the Qur'an was wrong, but neither could they say the Bible was wrong since Muhammad had declared the Bible's accuracy in the Qur'an.

So they quietly brushed the matter under the rug until Ibn Khazem lifted and aired it out in the 11th century. Since then, Muslim "scholars" have been engaging in futile acrobatics in logic to try to justify tahrif against the Bible, to no avail.

Do Christians and Muslims worship the same God? To this question, the answer is definitely no. Because of crucial differences between the Bible and the Qur'an, between the Christian and Muslim concepts of God, the two faiths cannot both be true. Only the biblical God alone addresses and solves the problem of sin by giving His Son.

Jesus Christ was God, and the Christian religion is the one true religion. You need to convert to it and be baptized for salvation if you are a Muslim in order to save your soul.

"… by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him this man standeth here before you whole. … Nor is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:10;12).

"And he (Jesus) said to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16)

Muslims deny that Jesus Christ is God. But there are many passages in the Bible which show that Jesus is God. The first few that come to mind are:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1.)

"Thomas answered and said to him: My Lord, and my God" (John 20:28).

"Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am" (John 8:58).

"I am" is the very name that God gave to Himself when He appeared to Moses in the burning bush to indicate that He is the eternal, uncreated supreme being. When Jesus said this of Himself, He was clearly indicating that He is God. This is why the Jews "took up stones" to kill Jesus (John 8:59). The prophecy of Isaias 9:6, which is clearly about Jesus, also proves that Jesus is God:

"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace." (Isaias 9:6)

One of our personal favorites on this point, but which is often overlooked, is Acts 3:15. Referring to how the Jews preferred the murdered Barabbas to Jesus and had Jesus crucified, St. Peter says:

"But the author of life you killed…" (Acts 3:15)

The author of life is God. Thus, Jesus is God. There are many other passages, such as Apocalypse chapter 1:

"And in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, one like to the Son of man… And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last, and behold I am living forever and ever…" (Apoc. 1)

Some people are unaware that God describes Himself as "the first and the last" in the Old Testament.

"I the Lord, I am the first and the last" (Isaias 41:4).

There are many other passages we could bring up, but the fact that Jesus is God is also proven by what is called "implicit Christology." This means that the manner in which Jesus spoke showed that He is God.

"You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not commit adultery. But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart" (Matthew 5:28).

Notice that Jesus, commenting on the words and commandment of God Himself in Exodus 20:14, clearly puts His own declaration on the same level: You have heard that God has said, BUT I SAY, says Jesus. This way of speaking shows Jesus is God.

Another interesting passage comes in Galatians.

"Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead…" (Galatians 1:1)

Since Paul did not become an apostle by men or of man, but by Jesus Christ, the obvious implication is that Jesus Christ is not just a man. He is also God.

The fact that Jesus is God and man (one Divine Person with two natures) was held by the earliest fathers of the Church and is a truth which must be held by all who want to be saved and possess the true Faith:

From AD 108, St. Ignatius to the church at Ephesus: "Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to her who has been blessed in greatness through the fulness of God the Father, ordained before time to be always resulting in permanent glory, unchangeably united and chosen in true passion, by the will of the Father and of Jesus Christ, our God, to the church which is in Ephesus of Asia, worthy of felicitation: abundant greetings in Jesus Christ and in blameless joy." (Ephesians 1)

Question: "If Jesus was God, why did He say 'No one is good but God alone'?" (Mark 10:18)

    Mark, chapter 10:

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." 16 And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. 17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered.
"No one is good -- except God alone.
19 You know the commandments: `Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'" 20 "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy." 21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22 At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

I want to show in the following that Jesus is not denying his goodness, but questioning this man's motives by asking him "*WHY* do you call me good?" And "before you address me with such a title, you had better think soberly about what the implications are, and especially what they are for you."

Answer: Jesus is agreeing that He is good, but bringing to their attention that this goodness is from the Father and the good they see in Him is because He is light from light, true God from true God.

He was saying that if people recognize that He is good then they should know that He is God. They should recognize that God is the source of goodness, not man. He was raising people's minds to recognize the Messiah.

Jesus affirmed His divinity in many places in Scripture. He took upon Himself the divine name (cf. Jn 8:58). By calling God His Father He meant to make Himself equal with God (cf. Jn 5:17-18). The Jews picked up rocks to stone Jesus after He said to them, “I and the Father are one” (cf. Jn 10:30-31). He is the “son of man” who told John, “Fear not, I am the first and the last” (Rev 1:13, 17).

Thus, Jesus’ question to the man is designed not to deny His deity, but rather to draw the man to recognize Christ’s divine identity. Such an interpretation is substantiated by passages such as John 10:11 wherein Jesus declares Himself to be “the good shepherd.” Similarly in John 8:46, Jesus asks, “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?” Of course the answer is “no.” Jesus was “without sin” (Hebrews 4:15), holy and undefiled (Hebrews 7:26), the One who “knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

The logic can thus be summarized as follows:

1: Jesus claims only God is good.

2: Jesus claims to be good.

3: Therefore, Jesus claims to be God.

Jesus certainly made no secret of the fact that He was God and would never deny His divinity. In fact, when Jesus had the opportunity to clear up any misunderstanding as to His nature, He did not do it. During Jesus' trial before the Jewish leaders, the High Priest said to Jesus, "I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God" (Mt 26:63). Jesus responded by saying, "You have said so," or as the NIV has it, "Yes, it is as you say" (vs. 64).

Of course, Jesus knew what was in the rich man’s heart. Recall the second reading. Jesus is the one who is “able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” As the Letter to the Hebrews goes on to say, “No creature is concealed from him, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.” (Hebrews 4:13)

So, when Jesus said, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone,” He is basically saying to the rich man: “If you are going to call me ‘good’, let it be because you acknowledge my divinity, not because you think that by calling me good you can get something from me. I am good because I am God. Period.”

And since Jesus is God, He knew that greed was what kept the rich man from embracing God fully and so was able to tell the man exactly what he needed to do to inherit eternal life. The rich man, of course, did not expect such a penetrating analysis of his weaknesses, and so he went away sad. But that’s Jesus for you. When you encounter God you encounter yourself.

I'm a Muslim, Why Should I Consider Becoming a Christian?

Answer: People often follow the religion of their parents or culture, whether Muslim, Buddhist, or Protestant. But when we stand before God on Judgment Day, each person must give account for himself—whether he believed in God's truth. But among so many religions, what is the truth? "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'" (John 14:6).

True Christians are followers of Jesus. How could Jesus claim to be the one and only way to God the Father? Let's find out in the Scripture, the Bible.

    Jesus' life, death, and resurrection

The Bible records how Jesus fulfilled prophecy when He was born to the virgin Mary. He grew up unique from any other human because He never sinned (1 Peter 2:22). Crowds flocked to hear His teaching and marvel at His miracles. Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, and walked on water.

Of all people, Jesus did not deserve to die. Yet Jesus prophesied that He would be crucified and raised from the dead (Matthew 20:18-19). His words came to pass. Soldiers beat Jesus and put a crown of thorns on His head; people mocked and spit on Him; nails pierced His hands and feet into a wooden cross. Jesus had the power to save Himself, but He gave Himself, willingly dying on the cross (John 19:30). Three days later, Jesus rose from the grave!

    Why the cross?

As a Muslim, you may ask, "Why would Allah allow His Prophet Isa to be mistreated and killed?" Jesus' death was essential because . . .

    • Every person is a sinner: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Whether dishonoring parents, telling a lie, failing to love God best, or disbelieving God's Word, we each have sinned against the holy God.

    • The punishment for sin is death: "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23a). God pours out His wrath against unbelieving sinners by separating them forever in Hell (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 9). As the just Judge, God will not overlook sin.

    • We cannot save ourselves by good works without first having the true faith: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Faith is the beginning, foundation, and root of justification, and the first of all other virtues, without which it is impossible to please God.

    • God sacrificed His Son for sinners: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). God knew mankind's sin kept them from Heaven. God knew the only way the sin debt could be paid was by a perfect One paying the price of death. God knew He alone could pay such an infinite price. So God's eternal plan was to send His Son Jesus to die in the believing sinner's place.

    Becoming a Christian

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).

"He that believes and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believes not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16)

As a Muslim, you may say, "Oh, I believe in Jesus. I believe Isa was a true teacher, a great prophet, and a good man."

But you are not baptized, nor have you entered the one and only true Church founded by Jesus Christ on St. Peter; and you cannot say Jesus was a true teacher and yet deny His teaching that He is the only way, truth, and life (John 14:6). You cannot believe Jesus was a great prophet and yet reject His prophecy that He would die and rise again in three days (Luke 18:31-33). You cannot admit Jesus is a good man yet disbelieve His claim to be the Son of God (Luke 22:70; John 5:18-47).

You cannot consider becoming a Christian without realizing that Christianity excludes all other religions (Acts 4:12). The inescapable conclusion of Christianity is this: either Jesus bears your sin on the cross or you bear your sin in Hell. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him" (John 3:36).

As you search the Bible (a Catholic Bible), may God awaken your heart to turn from your sin and trust in Jesus. You may respond with a prayer like the one below. Remember, the prayer does not save you. God alone can save! But the prayer may be your expression of the faith God gives you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Dear God, I grieve that I have sinned against You. As a sinner, I'm worthy of death in Hell. But I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for sin and rise from the dead in victory. I now turn from following my own sinful desires and from trying to reach Heaven through my own will. I trust alone in the Lord Jesus alone as my Savior from sin. I love You my Lord, and submit myself to follow You by Your Church and Word, the Bible. Amen!"

If you are unsure about what you believe, we invite you to say the following prayer to God; "God, help me to know what is true. Help me to discern what is error. Help me to know what is the correct path to salvation." God will always honor such a prayer.

If you want to receive the Faith and Jesus as your Savior, simply speak to God, verbally or silently, receive baptism (how to convert to the true Faith), obey His Church and His Law, and tell Him that you want to receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. If you want a prayer to say, here is an example: "God, thank you for loving me. Thank you for sacrificing yourself for me. Thank you for providing for my forgiveness and salvation. I want to accept the gift of salvation through Jesus. I want to receive Jesus as my Savior. Amen!"

    Specific Teaching Against Islam

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Basel, Session 19, Sept. 7, 1434: "… there is hope that very many from the abominable sect of Mahomet will be converted to the Catholic faith."

Pope Callixtus III, 1455: "I vow to… exalt the true Faith, and to extirpate the diabolical sect of the reprobate and faithless Mahomet [Islam] in the East."

The Catholic Church considers Islam an "abominable" and "diabolical" sect. An "abomination" is something that is abhorrent in God's sight; it's something that He has no esteem for and no respect for. Something "diabolical" is something of the Devil. Islam rejects, among many other dogmas, the Divinity of Jesus Christ and the Trinity. Its followers are outside the pale of salvation so long as they remain Muslims.

While the Church teaches that all who die as non-Catholics are lost, it also teaches that no one should be forced to embrace baptism, since belief is a free act of the will.

Pope Leo XIII, Immortale Dei (#36), Nov. 1, 1885: "And, in fact, the Church is wont to take earnest heed that no one shall be forced to embrace the Catholic faith against his will, for, as St. Augustine wisely reminds us, 'Man cannot believe otherwise than of his own will.'"

It is absolutely necessary for everyone above reason to positively know about the most holy mysteries of the Christian religion in order to be saved. These mysteries are the Trinity and the Incarnation.

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Sess. 8, Nov. 22, 1439, ex cathedra: "Whoever wishes to be saved, needs above all to hold the Catholic faith; unless each one preserves this whole and inviolate, he will without a doubt perish in eternity.– But the Catholic faith is this, that we worship one God in the Trinity, and the Trinity in unity; neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance; for there is one person of the Father, another of the Son, another of the Holy Spirit, their glory is equal, their majesty coeternal...and in this Trinity there is nothing first or later, nothing greater or less, but all three persons are coeternal and coequal with one another, so that in every respect, as has already been said above, both unity in Trinity, and Trinity in unity must be worshipped. Therefore let him who wishes to be saved, think thus concerning the Trinity.

"But it is necessary for eternal salvation that he faithfully believe also in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ...the Son of God is God and man... unless each one believes this faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved."
